Abstract

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has developed guidelines governing the assignment of priorities to species for listing as endangered and threatened under the Endangered Species Act of 1973 and implementation of recovery plans for species that are listed under the Act. The priority systems published in this issue of the Federal Register are based on analysis of factors such as degree and immediacy of the threat faced by a species and species' recovery potentials.
