The COVID-19 pandemic was a 'queer time' for LGBTQ+ people. Competing social discourses created complex and often contradictory meanings of bodies and body image. COVID-19-related self-isolation was for some participants a reprieve from constant body monitoring while for others it was a time of continued pressure to embody body ideals. Participants suggested that nutritional messages during such times be ones of compassion and non-judgement of bodies.
