Abstract In this work, we propose a Fibonacci quasi periodic-photonic crystal design based on using a superconductor material and a nanocomposite material as constituents layers. Based on the well-known transfer matrix method, we have theoretically investigated the optical properties of the proposed design at the THz region. From the resulted optical properties, it is observed that a tunable photonic band with a cutoff frequency feature have been appeared through the THz region. The tunability property of the resulted photonic band gao and the cutoff frequency feature are obtained by controlling the proposed design parameters such as the order number of Fibonacci sequences, the thickness, the temperature of the superconductor layer, the volume fraction of the nanocomposite material, and the incident angle. Our proposed design can be used in many potential applications at the THz region such as high reflection mirrors, band-pass filters, fibers, and microcavities.
