Optimizing opioid prescriptions after laparoscopic appendectomy and cholecystectomy

Abstract

Patients are prescribed an excess of opioids after LA or LC. Implementation of a standardized prescription based on a quality improvement intervention was effective at decreasing the number of opioids prescribed and consumed.
