Abstract

This paper gives the results of an investigation of the effectiveness of unreinforced brick masonry walls to resist shear forces applied in the plane of the wall. Large size and scale model brick walls were tested without bounding frames, and with reinforced concrete or structural steel frames. Some approximate relationships are suggested as a means of predicting the behavior of such walls.
