In allusion to the characters of the complex large scale systems, such as the excessive equation numbers, too high orders of the variables, etc., an extended artificial fish swarm algorithm based on decomposition and coordination method is proposed. A calculation for a heat exchanger system has been done, and the computation result demonstrate that this technique has some advantages as convergence, insensitive to initial values, insensitive to parameters, and so on.
