Abstract

In this paper, a loss allocation approach based on a modified DistFlow model is proposed. The form of the modified DistFlow is similar to simplified DistFlow. Based on the modified DistFlow model, the three types of equations, namely, power flow equations, network loss equations, and loss allocation equations are presented to allocate network losses. By introducing the path-branch incidence matrix, all the equations can be presented in analytical forms for a generalized radial distribution network. The results on IEEE 33-bus system show that: firstly, the modified DistFlow based network loss equations are more accurate than simplified DistFlow; secondly, the decoupling results for network losses by modified DistFlow are within an acceptable margin of errors compared with ACOPF and DistFlow; finally, the proposed loss allocation method offers more reasonable price information compared with marginal loss coefficient method.
