<i>Hsp65</i> marker-based metabarcoding approach allowed detecting <i>N. cyriacigeogica</i> as the most abundant <i>Nocardia</i> pathogenic species in a UIB. Metal trace elements-polluted environments can be reservoirs of pathogenic <i>Nocardia</i> which may have a similar virulence to clinical strains.
