Recommended Methods for Radioisotope Platelet Survival Studies

Abstract

It has been brought to the attention of the Editors that an error in calculations appeared in the article entitled “Recommended Methods for Radioisotope Platelet Survival Studies” published in Blood in 1977 (Blood 50:1137-1144). Regrettably, the authors of the initial paper did not state explicitly that the nature of the problem and parametrisation of the logarithmic expression require that the estimated value of B is positive, ie, B is estimated as B = -F/M. Further derivation using this estimator of B will lead to correct estimators of C, SB, and MW.
