This paper presents the performance comparison of fuzzy controller and PI controller for a high step-up single-switch boost converter. The high step-up single-switch boost converter is described. This converter can step the low input voltage up to the high output voltage level of 400V by using only one power switch. The high step-up voltage conversion gain, approximately 20 times, can be achieved. The control strategies for the high step-up single-switch boost converter based on the PI controller and the fuzzy controller are designed. Simulation results show the comparison of converter performance between PI controller and fuzzy controller under various operating conditions. The better performance of the converter can be obtained by using fuzzy controller compared to PI controller in the same simulation situations.
