Optimal Quantum Thermometry with Coarse-Grained Measurements

Abstract

Fundamental precision limits for temperature estimation of complex samples using small probes are derived, and it is found that nearly optimal sensing can be achieved with the smallest possible probe consisting of just a single qubit.
