A non-cytotoxic Bi<sub>2</sub>S<sub>3</sub>/β-Bi<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub>/ZnIn<sub>2</sub>S<sub>4</sub> photocatalyst assembled by <italic>in situ</italic> reflux method exhibits dual Z-scheme mechanism with excellent visible light assisted photocatalytic activity for tetracycline degradation, Cr(<sc>vi</sc>) reduction, H<sub>2</sub> generation and bacterial inactivation.
