Objectives Comparing patients with vaginismus with women without vaginismus in terms of anxiety, childhood trauma, and other sexual dysfunctions. Methods: Outpatients with vaginismus (n = 50) and subjects for comparison (n = 50) were recruited from a hospital in a large Turkish city. The Beck Anxiety Inventory, Childhood Trauma Questionnaire, and Golombok–Rust Inventory of Sexual Satisfaction were used. Results: While anxiety and sexual dysfunction scores were found to be high in vaginismus group, there was no difference between the two groups in the trauma. Conclusions: Vaginismus is associated with anxiety and other sexual dysfunctions but not with childhood trauma.
