Abstract

The developments of nano size metal oxide particles are concerned because of their notable advancements and its idiosyncratic nature. Zinc oxide nanoparticles were synthesized using the novel sol-gel technique. The crystalline structure, surface morphology, functional group of the as- synthesized ZnO nanoparticles were characterized by the X Ray Diffraction (XRD) analysis, Fourier Transform InfraRed (FTIR) analysis respectively. The optical properties of the as-synthesized sample are studied by the Ultraviolet Visible Spectrophotometer (UV-VIS). The XRD results revealed that the prepared sample is highly crystalline having wurtzite crystal structure. FTIR spectra peaks showed the characteristic absorption of the ZnO nanoparticles. UV-VIS spectrum showed a typical absorption peak at 355 nm having a wide band gap of 3.3 eV. ZnO being a promising candidate for superior optoelectrical properties meets the global energy concern.
