Abstract

This paper proposes a new topology for cascaded 35-level inverters. Higher number of produced levels (35 levels in this paper) improves the quality of output voltage and reduces its Total Harmonic Distortion (THD). For producing 35 levels, the suggested configuration employs less switches than similar structures. This means that the share of each switch in suggested configuration on generating voltage steps is more than that of similar structures. Reduction in switch count leads to reduced driver circuits and finally reduces the complexity, volume, weight and expense of suggested configuration. The fundamental frequency strategy has been applied for switching of proposed topology. The suggested configuration can be employed on supplying low/medium power factor (R-L) loads. The simulation results approve correct operation of suggested configuration.
