Abstract

By co-substituting a cation (M<sup>2+</sup>:Ba<sup>2+</sup> or Ca<sup>2+</sup>) and Al<sup>3+</sup>–O<sup>2−</sup> into Sr<sub>2</sub>Si<sub>5</sub>N<sub>8</sub>:Eu<sup>2+</sup> in a solid-state method, we successfully synthesized the nitrido-alumino-silicate phosphors Sr<sub>(2−y)</sub>M<sub>y</sub>Si<sub>5−x</sub>Al<sub>x</sub>N<sub>8−x</sub>O<sub>x</sub>:Eu<sup>2+</sup> (Ba-AlO-258 (M<sub>y</sub> = Ba<sub>0.3</sub>, <italic>x</italic> &gt; 0) and Ca-AlO-258 (M<sub>y</sub> = Ca<sub>0.3</sub>, <italic>x</italic> &gt; 0)).
