In this work, two types of amine-impregnated activated carbons have been prepared from green coconut shell: Monoethanol amine-impregnated activated carbon (M-AC) and Diethanol amine-impregnated activated carbon (D-AC). Carbon dioxide (CO2) adsorption was determined by a batch adsorption analysis. Effects of the time and relative pressure on CO2 adsorption capacity of amine-impregnated activated carbon were studied. From the result, it has been observed that amine-impregnated activated carbons have higher adsorption capacity for CO2 although there is a decrease in the surface area of activated carbon due to amine impregnation. Among the two impregnated amine activated carbon and monoethanol amine-impregnated activated carbon, impregnation ratio 0.4 shows the highest carbon dioxide adsorption capacity i.e. 36.84 mg g−1.
