Technical set‐up and case illustrations of orthopaedic cone beam computed tomography in the standing horse

Abstract

Summary Computed tomography (CT) is a widely utilised cross‐sectional imaging modality in the horse. However, most CT imaging of horses’ limbs has so far been restricted to applications under general anaesthesia. CT configurations that allow for imaging of the extremities in standing, sedated horses up to and including the carpus and tarsus have not yet been published. Here, a detailed description of the infrastructure and technical set‐up for CT examinations of horses’ limbs under standing sedation and using a mobile cone beam CT unit is provided.
