Cooperative spectrum sensing (CSS) is the key function of cognitive radio (CR) system to identify the available spectrum. However, the nature of aggregating spectrum sensing data makes CSS offer opportunities for Byzantine attackers to undermine CR. In this letter, on the basis of a generalized soft Byzantine attack model, we theoretically analyze attack strategies in the absence of any defense, in terms of the attack strength and the attack probability. Further, we introduce a classical trust-value based CSS algorithm to conduct attack strategies and evaluate the security of Byzantine attackers, with the aim of providing a guideline for a robust defense strategy. Finally, simulation results verify the correctness and effectiveness of theoretical analyses.
