Abstract

This paper presents a modeling and a simulation of a wind energy conversion system, based on a synchronous permanent magnet generator (PMSG), with the integration of maximum power point tracking techniques in order to extract maximum power from the turbine independently of the change in wind speed. The system is controlled by two of the most popular MPPT algorithms: as traditional one perturb and observe (P&O) and the fuzzy logic (FL). The considered model as well the control strategies has been implemented in MATLAB/Simulink environment. Therefore, the presented simulations results show the performance of fuzzy logic (FL) against the conventional P&O.
