Abstract

This book, which is a translation of the original Russian text first published by The State Physico–Mathematical Press in Moscow in 1959, is written in an easy style. It is a good introduction to polarized emission by one who has carried out research in the subject for many years, and it surveys in turn the fluorescence of atoms, diatomic and complex molecules, and of solids.
