NiFe<sub>0.1</sub>O with grain boundary defects possesses a smaller ECSA (<italic>C</italic><sub>dl</sub> = 3.23 mF cm<sup>−2</sup>) than other samples. However, NiFe<sub>0.1</sub>O shows the highest electrocatalytic OER performance.
