These results suggest that chronic stress might induce depressive behaviors by disturbing the glutamine-glutamate-GABA cycle in the striatum, hippocampus, and cerebellum, and that the glutamine-glutamate-GABA cycle among these three brain regions might generate cooperative action in response to chronic stress.
