Beam Management for 5G Satellite Systems Based on NR

Abstract

As the demand for various internet services has increased, the necessity of satellite systems supporting a wide range of services has emerged. Accordingly, many operators are planning the development and service of improved satellite communications. 3GPP is also researching non-terrestrial network standards, including satellite systems, to expand 5G services. This paper describes the beam management method among various technical issues required for the development of 5G NR-based satellite systems.
