This paper reports an experimental study aiming to develop a platform of services, the Social Cooperation for Integrated Assisted Living (SOCIAL) platform that integrates the Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) with authentication, authorization, logging and auditing mechanisms. The integration of FHIR with security mechanisms is described and a performance evaluation of the respective implementation is presented. The results show that the implementation is efficient in terms of information access by the different user-application pairs.
