Abstract

An experiment was undertaken in order to use the collective model for stable, deformed nuclei for the first seven excited states of /sup 23/Na. It succeeded in projecting the experimental location of the levels, in confirming the experimental spins, and in predicting some missing spins. In addition, four rotation bands were mixed and were considered together with deep-lying inside excitation possibilities, which permit the Nilsson model. The relative locations of the K-band and the coupling constant could be inferred in an adequate way from the Nilsson model. For the adaptation only a moment of inertia was used, which was somewhat smaller than the hydrodynamic estimate. (tr-auth)
