A detailed analysis oj X-rc(.j' scattering intensity oj bi,wr}, silica te .rystems Li 2 0 -Si0 2 , Na 2 0 -Si0 2 and K 2 0 -Si0 2 has been carried out in the molten and glassy states. AJter calculating the illlerferenceJunction , the electron radial distribution Junction was evaluated Jrom which average interionic distarl ce and coordination number were obtained. On the basis oj tltese iliformation, the ionic distribution and tlte structural change in molten alkali metal silicates were discussed. The results obtained by X-rlry diffraction have been also supported b), neutron diffraction experiments in the glassy state.
