Immunohistochemical Reactivity of Prostate-Specific Markers for Salivary Duct Carcinoma

Abstract

NKX3.1 expression is useful for SDC diagnosis, but decreased NKX3.1 expression was not correlated with SDC progression. The immunoreactivity of AMACR and PAP could be useful for assessing prognosis in SDC, but immunohistochemical staining of prostate-specific markers should be interpreted with caution when determining whether a metastatic tumor is of prostate origin, especially when patients have a history of SDC.
