Abstract Alkenes are a kind of valuable building blocks which have been found in natural products, pharmaceuticals and industrial materials. Direct functionalization of olefins has been extensively studied over the past years. The replacement of conventional approach by more atom‐economic and greener electrochemical method is an attractive technique with huge synthetic potential as well as inherent safety. Electrochemical oxidative cross coupling of alkenes, which conforms to green synthesis and atom economy has been developed in recent years. This review summarizes the recent development of electrochemical dehydrogenative functionalization of alkenes in different transformations.
