Abstract

Platelet transfusion <i>during the rewarming phase</i> of neonatal cardiac surgery was associated with reduced bleeding and improved postoperative outcomes, compared to platelets given <i>after coming off bypass</i>. Further studies are necessary to understand mechanisms and benefits of this strategy.
