This paper presents space vector pulse width modulation based generalized switching schemes including over modulation region for multilevel inverters. The main feature is that, it substantially minimizes determination of space vectors by generating all switching patterns without lookup tables in turn promotes the design and implementation. A new switching scheme is formed based on the nature of triangles of the space vector diagram, where in the patterns are arranged for reduction of device frequency and enhancement of harmonic production by eliminating further switching commutations. The method is analyzed through simulations and executed experimentally through SPARTAN FPGA processor on seven level diode clamped inverter. The outcomes prove the performance of the presented method.
