Abstract

Massive multiple input multiple output (MIMO) antenna system consist of more number of antennas at the base station than number of active users in each cell. It is a promising 5G technology for the future to meet the ever growing need of wireless data traffic and spectral efficiency (SE). We analyze the downlink spectral efficiency of massive MIMO systems by using different antenna arrays configuration and improved its performance by suppressing interuser interference caused by non-orthogonality between channel vectors. Total SE of Massive MIMO systems in a single circular cell is studied, with the assumption that the base station knows channel state information (CSI) in prior and employs linear precoding. All users are assumed to have a random distribution under mmWave channel model. Multiple subarray antenna configurations are studied and simulation results reveals that three subarray antenna configuration performs effective suppression of interuser interference while compared to other subarray configurations.
