Abstract

To investigate the influences of different static eccentricity forms on the vibration and noise of permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSMs), a theoretical model is developed in this manuscript with a view of researching the order-frequency of radial electromagnetic force. Then a finite element model of the 9s6p and 12s8p PMSMs are built to conduct a comparison of radial electromagnetic force characteristics under different eccentricity forms such as the no-eccentricity, non-coaxial eccentricity and elliptical eccentricity. And finally an experimental test is conducted to verify the accuracy of theoretical results. The results show that the electromagnetic force amplitude of different orders is strongly depended on the different static eccentricity forms. The elliptical eccentricity can increase the amplitude of lower-order force waves and cause greater vibration and noise of the motor than non-coaxial eccentricity.
