An ordered Pt<sub>3</sub>Sn intermetallic, in which every Pt<sub>3</sub>Sn NP is in contact with one or more SnO<sub>2</sub> NPs, was synthesized by the <italic>in situ</italic> transformation of Pt–Sn/NG.
