The chitosan-grafted-poly(N-vinylcaprolactam) copolymer was synthesized via the free radical polymerization and the electrospun nanofibers were prepared via electrospinning method. The nanofibers surface was coated with gold-gold sulfide nanoparticles and the cisplatin anticancer drug was loaded into the nanofibers for controlled release of cisplatin and the treatment of MCF-7 breast cancer cells. The synthesized gold nanoparticles were characterized using transmission electron microscopy, energy dispersive X-ray and ultraviolet–visible spectroscopy analysis. The characteristics of nanofibers were determined using Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscope and dynamic light scattering analysis. The drug loading efficiency and cisplatin release profiles from synthesized nanofibers were evaluated.
