In this paper a new method for a simultaneous determination of quantity and quality of biodiesel in mixture with mineral diesel fuel is presented. The method was optimised and evaluated for blends containing biodiesel in concentrations ranging between 5 to 30% m/m. The new procedure is based on a preliminary derivatisation as acetates of partial esters (mono- and diglycerides), allowing the original structure to be maintained and the total recovery after the classic separation diesel fuel/biodiesel, using a silica cartridge. The obtained results, evaluated in terms of precision and accuracy, are very encouraging and this method should now be put forward to Standardisation Committees to be considered.
