Abstract

Pilot plant data are analysed. The classical equation of filtration is modified on an empirical basis to account for migration and deposition of fine particles. The article identifies relevant factors which are not usually considered in filtration theory. Improved filtration depends on reducing the number of submicron particles in the reactor or on introducing a pretreatment process prior to filtration.
