Abstract

A new type of epoxy resin adhesive was prepared by mixing ratio tests, which can apply in the ultra-thin pavement with the high flexibility and bond strength. The effects of toughening agents, diluents and curing agents with different types and dosages on the tensile properties of adhesives were evaluated by tensile tests. Afterwards, the scanning electron microscope (SEM) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) were used to investigate the mechanism of various additives. According to the strength test, the optimum mixture ratio composition A (epoxy resin and modifiers) is that epoxy resin E-51: epoxy resin E-44: toughening agent F1: diluent D1: fire retardant = 50:50:20:10:8; the component B (curing agent and modifiers) is that curing agent H1:accelerator:coupling agent = 70:10:2. Meanwhile, the effect of toughening and interpenetrating was realised through the network formed, which caused by the intertwining of polyurethane (F1) and epoxy resin in the mixed system; the diluents improved ductility by reducing the crosslinking density of adhesives; the amino group in the curing agent reacted with the epoxy group. While the phenomenon of agglomeration within the paving material was caused by the excess number of adhesives, that resulting in a low reaction speed and slow strength formation. And then the colloidal stone ratio was determined to be 1:4.
