The reasons for the incessant outbreak of Helicoverpa armigera (Hubner) have been studied, besides the physiological potential for outbreak in Helicoverpa armigera (H) itself, the outbreak is not only closely related to the high temperature and droughty climate in summer and autumn, but also to the variation of both cultivation systems and management pattern in cotton areas. With the frequent use of no-selecting chemical pesticides, many benifical creatures have been killed, and the variety index has fallen off.
