We detail a new regulatory mechanism to modulate mtCU function and <sub>m</sub>Ca<sup>2+</sup> uptake. Our results suggest that MCUB-dependent changes in mtCU stoichiometry are a prominent regulatory mechanism to modulate <sub>m</sub>Ca<sup>2+</sup> uptake and cellular physiology.
