This study shows that absorption by primary 4nm nanodiamond crystallites has ${\ensuremath{\lambda}}^{\ensuremath{-}4}$ power law and this is a reason why it was previously confused with Rayleigh scattering. In reality scattering is governed by nanodiamond agglomerates up to one micron in size and has a slope close to ${\ensuremath{\lambda}}^{\ensuremath{-}2}$ due to their specific fractal structure.
