Abstract

The traditional healthcare systems were precisely submissive. Every time the patient had to visit the doctor, even for minor complications. This would add to the cost of treatment of the patient in addition to a surge in applied time and effort. Another scenario could be that a person is in a critical situation, then he/she was not able to claim instant help from earlier healthcare systems. But now with the advent of smart healthcare systems, this issue has been addressed, hence reducing the mortality rates around the globe. The appreciation lies in the court of the ICT (Information and Communications Technology) and Internet. IoT (Internet of Things) aids the healthcare services to grow and become active, pervasive and smart healthcare platforms. As IoT is amplifying, and proportional to that various development boards have been developed and are now being employed in the field of medicine to make the medical operations convenient to people. These IoT based boards reduce the development effort of the people, are cost-effective and utilize low power. Various companies like IBM, Intel, etc., have manufactured these boards and these boards are being used practically by many companies to make the healthcare systems ubiquitous. This paper gives an insight on aspects of IoT driven healthcare systems and the various development boards which enable connectivity between devices and people.
