A rhodium(<sc>ii</sc>)-catalyzed tandem reaction involving O–H insertion of<italic>N</italic>-sulfonyl 1,2,3-triazoles and Michael addition has been described. A series of 2-amino-1-indanones were afforded in acceptable to good yields with high diastereoselectivities.
