Stereocontrolled Synthesis of a Tetracyclic Sesterterpene, (+)-Scalarenedial

Abstract

Abstract A stereocontrolled, formal synthesis of a tetracyclic sesterterpene, (+)-scalarenedial, was achieved by means of repeating the same ring construction method and a simple resolution of the intermediary tetracyclic β-ketoester with a chiral auxiliary.
