Abstract A 2,3-bis(pseudo-pentacoordinate) tetrasilane was obtained by the reductive dimerization of 1-[8-(dimethylamino)-1-naphthyl]-1-chlorodisilane using magnesium, and also from the analogous 1-fluorodisilane using a mixture of magnesium and magnesium bromide.
