A highly efficient, one-pot Cu(OAc)<sub>2</sub>/Cs<sub>2</sub>CO<sub>3</sub>-catalyzed protocol for the aerobic oxidative synthesis of quinazolinones from readily available benzyl alcohols and 2-aminobenzonitriles with molecular oxygen as the terminal oxidant has been successfully developed.
