A new synthetic method for preparing cis-4-substituted 3-trimethylsilyl-2-oxetanones and (Z)-2-alkenoic acids has been demonstrated which involves the stereocontrolled cycloaddition of trimethylsilylketene and aldehydes in the presence of methylaluminum bis(4-bromo-2,6-di-tert-butylphenoxide) (MABR).
