Abstract

The present status of the Cape vulture (Gyps coprotheres) in the Cape Province of South Africa is discussed in the light of findings made during a recent survey of suspected breeding and roosting sites, and as a result of a questionnaire sent to farmers and Divisional Councils. Feeding habits were investigated because the birds are persecuted in some areas in the belief that they attack livestock.
