Abstract

In short, we found that prolonged chronic exposure to PM<sub>2.5</sub> resulted in decreased lung function, emphysematous lesions and airway inflammation. Most importantly, long-term PM<sub>2.5</sub> exposure exacerbateed cigarette smoke-induced changes in COPD.
