Microwave-Assisted Single-Step Functionalization and in Situ Derivatization of Carbon Nanotubes with Gold Nanoparticles

Abstract

Microwaves are used to functionalize and derivatize multiwalled carbon nanotubes with gold nanoparticles formed by metal ion reduction, all in a single processing step. This strategy provides a rapid and cost-efficient method to attach nanoparticles onto nanotubes for a wide variety of applications.
